Art History - Baroque

Each of you must include two pages on Baroque Art.

You must each work in your own sketchbook. You can tape or glue watercolor paper in as well if you would like...

Individually, in your sketchbook, respond to these questions:
When - what period of time?

Where - what part of the world? Be as specific as possible.

Who - who were well-known artists from this period? What were their best-known works?

What - what the the defining characteristics of this period? what sort of motifs, colors, shapes, recurring elements, artistic styles, and themes do you see? Once again, please be specific.

How - how did artists in this period differ from the previous Renaissance Period - for example, how did materials, politics, and economics affect the kind of art that was made?

Why - why is this period important? how has it influenced the world today? what modern examples can you think of that have been influenced by this Baroque period?

In your sketchbooks, please respond to these questions using both WORDS and IMAGES - in other words, write out your response, but using pencil, charcoal, watercolor, and/or pen, show us visually some examples from this period.
