10.22 | Quarter's End

1. Finish perspective drawings of school exterior. Leave with Mr. Jonny at end of class.
2. Make a list, individually, of art galleries, museums, exhibits, or studios you would be interested in visiting this school year. Carmella and Hannah had a great idea to visit the Portland Art Museum - what places are you particularly interested in...and why? Write three places down on your blog, along with links, specific points of interest (types of artists, traveling exhibitions, etc.), and admission price.

Summary of Wednesday | 10.13

Today we watched Art 21, featuring 4 different artists and their styles. Upon completing the video we went back to the maclab and wrote a 1-2 sentence summary of each artist and the art they create. When finished with that you needed to write a one paragraph response to the question featured on your blog. In case you don’t see it here it is:

The artists in Identity express how factors such as our family history, physical appearance, and profession make up how others see us and how we view ourselves. How do you reveal to other people your own "identity and personality? How would you draw your self-portrait next time to best express your own identity and personality?

These summary’s should be featured on your blogs! If you have yet to get these up please do so immediately!

Just as a reminder, your perspective drawings are due on Friday by the beginning of class. You are more than welcome to take your art supplies with you if you’d like to work outside of class. If have any questions, please come and talk to us!

10.13 Wednesday

+ Finish up "hallway perspective drawings" - need to be turned in by the time class is done Friday! If you need to take your drawing materials with you after school, you may do so.

+ Begin Art21 Documentary hosted by Steve Martin on "Identity."

+ On your blogs, write one to two sentences about each artist in the documentary - what kind of art does each one create?

And a full paragraph in response to  the following question:

The artists in Identity express how factors such as our family history, physical appearance, and profession make up how others see us and how we view ourselves. How do you reveal to other people your own "identity and personality? How would you draw your self-portrait next time to best express your own identity and personality?

Summary of Wednesday 10.6.2010:

Today we started out in class continuing our definitions worksheet. After working on that we quickly transitioned into talking about perspectives and reading through the handout given in class. We then put what we read to practice, using our drawing boards and picture planes we all sat in the hallway and drew down the hallway. This can be very challenging but stay positive, it will come, but like anything else it takes practice. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Thanks for your focus and hard work. We will continue our learning on Friday!
